Cathy (who goes by the name Iam Clapclap online) is an American Stromae fan who has seen Stromae in concert 26 times now. She has followed the Racine Carrée tour in North America since its beginnings in September 2014, and can count the shows she’s missed on one hand. In April of this year, she even attracted the attention of the Belgian press for her devotion to attending Stromae’s live shows. And she’ll be at almost every one of his shows this fall as well, bien sûr.
Now, here’s a special invitation from Cathy to you:
Want to see Stromae perform live, but can’t make it to a show? Let me help! At nearly every show in North America from 12 September in Miami to 1 October in New York City, I will broadcast 2-3 songs using Periscope, a live streaming video app. You’ll get the songs, the dancing, the lights, even the corny jokes! By the time the tour is over, you’ll have seen the whole show. It’s not the same as being there, but I hope it’s the next best thing.
And for those of you who have already seen some of my concert videos and know what to expect…… I promise I won’t sing along and jump up and down during the broadcasts. But even though I’ll do my best to make it the best quality possible, remember that this will be a live video using a handheld phone. Expect it to be a little shaky.
Still interested? I hope we can meet online for a show!
How do I watch the broadcasts?
Download Periscope on your smartphone (iOS and Android), and follow me on Twitter (@iamclapclap). Every time I start a broadcast, you’ll be notified instantly.
I can’t / don’t want to use Periscope. Can I still watch?
Yes! Make sure you follow me on Twitter (@iamclapclap). At the beginning of every broadcast, a link will be tweeted so you can watch it on the web.
What if I’m sleeping or busy, and can’t watch it while it’s happening?
Don’t worry! You can watch it later using Periscope or the link on Twitter. But don’t wait too long – it’s only available for 24 hours and then it’s gone forever.
Is it really gone forever after 24 hours?
Yes, it really is.
What else will you be doing while you follow the tour?
Lots! If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll also get pictures and mini-reports from the road.
Do you have a schedule of songs?
No. All I can tell you is that the songs will be shown in order – the first song of the first show will be the first song that’s broadcast, and you won’t see the last song until the last show. You’ll see 2-3 consecutive songs per concert. But if new songs are added, or some other surprise comes up, I will add a second broadcast – my goal is to give you as much of the show as possible over the course of the tour.
You can find the dates for each show here: http://stromae.net/#!/concerts
Please note: There will be no broadcast on 18 September (Boston).
Anything else I need to know?
Not that I can think of right now. Feel free to contact me on Twitter with any questions.
