Stromae in Miami, Florida September 12
Stromae is coming to Florida! The French-language newspaper Le Courrier de Floride is reporting this morning that Stromae will perform in Miami at the James L. Knight Center on Saturday, September 12, 2015.
There will be a presale beginning this Wednesday, March 11 at this Ticketmaster link. Use the password “French” when prompted.
Journalist Gwendal Gauthier wrote this introduction to Stromae to accompany the concert announcement in Le Courrier de Floride:
Stromae, an International Phenomenon
“For those of our readers who could be so disconnected from Europe that they’ve never heard of Stromae, he’s been the most in-vogue European singer for almost two years, since his explosion in the summer of 2013. In the survey we organized in December, Stromae came in in second place among the singers that Florida francophones want to see perform here. His name means ‘maestro’ in slang, but don’t let that lead you to believe that he destroys the French language: Stromae knows how to handle it, and he has the talent to write lyrics that touch both young and old, without giving in to easy superficiality. He’s also often derided (Les Guignols de l’Info) for the ‘depressive’ side of some of his songs, but he has for the first time proven that it wasn’t mandatory to use the words ‘bailar’ and ‘chica’ in all contemporary music compositions. (May he be thanked for it!)
Born in Etterbeek in Belgium under the name of Paul Van Haver, Stromae had his first international success in 2009 with ‘Alors On Danse,’ before finding recognition in 2013 with the album Racine Carrée, and the tour that ensued: more than 200 dates in 20 different countries.”
